PROJECT:  Pearse Lyons Distillery, James’ Street, Dublin 8

PROJECT OVERVIEW: ORS acted as Assigned Certifiers on the Pearse Lyons (Alltech) owned visitor centre opposite the newly refurbished St James Street Church.

The church has been refurbished and developed as a craft distillery while the modern visitor centre has been built as a tourist attraction to tell the history of the area as “The Golden Triangle” of great Dublin Distilleries in the 19th century.

The visitor centre is a three-storey structure with the ground floor comprising of an entrance lobby, theatre and audio visual room. The first floor contains male/female and disabled WC’s acting as a balcony overlooking the ground floor while the second floor is dedicated to staff including a kitchen/janitors closet/staff office/managers office and meeting room. A central lift core was constructed to enable access to all floors for those with limited mobility.

The building envelope is comprised of structural glazing, stone cladding and brickwork with parapet and bitumen covered flat roof housing modern features such as PV solar panels and mechanical ventilation/airflow systems.  The total construction time for the visitor centre was 10 months with the build completing in late July, ready to open to the public on 25th August.
