PROJECT: Elizabeth’s Tree House

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Barretstown Camp is part of the Serious Fun Children’s Network founded by Paul Newman to provide therapeutic and respite care for children whose lives and those of their families have been affected by life changing illnesses.

Elizabeth’s Tree House won the overall category award for ‘Building of the Year’ at the Building and Architect of the Year Awards 2017. It also won in its own leisure category at the same awards. It involved the construction of a new single storey stand alone dining hall pavilion building with an area of 894m2 to accommodate 250 diners. The building is raised on suspended ground floor set of minipiles above the existing ground and the roof is an exposed laminated timber lattice roof structure.
